Benita Urey has broken her silence following the Liberia Football Association’s decision to ban her for five years over alleged match manipulation, an allegation she has categorically rejected, describing it as false, misleading, and politically driven.

In a strongly worded response, Urey slammed the LFA Grievance and Disciplinary Committee’s claim, insisting that the decision was not rooted in facts or evidence, but rather in speculation, gossip, and political bias.

“I completely denounce this allegation. It is baseless and designed to target me because of my open support for Cassell A. Kuoh’s presidential bid,” Urey stated.

According to her, the so-called ban lacks credibility, as the LFA has failed to present a single piece of evidence or produce any individual who claims to have received money from her in connection with match manipulation.

Urey further dismissed claims that she communicated with Paynesville FC players regarding match fixing, describing the accusation as entirely fabricated.

“I have never, at any point, communicated with any Paynesville FC player about fixing matches. This allegation is pure fiction,” she emphasized.

As a young woman striving to make an impact in Liberian football, Urey said she refuses to be intimidated or silenced by what she called a hostile football administration that consistently targets opposition team leaders.

She also pointed to what she described as glaring double standards in the enforcement of football rules.

When LISCR FC defeated Shaita FC 6–1, no investigation was launched.

When LISCR lost to Freeport FC in a match that saved Freeport from relegation, there was no outcry.

Yet, in her case, the Committee acted swiftly, without proof.

“This selective justice exposes the clear bias behind this decision,” she said.

Despite the ruling, one she claims is backed by Mr. Raji, Urey vowed that Shaita Angels will not be broken or bullied. She reaffirmed her commitment to vote against Raji, stating that Liberian football urgently needs development, transparency, and genuine reform, not control by a few individuals who believe the game belongs to them alone.

“The line has been drawn. I will not be controlled or silenced,” Urey declared.

Born and raised in Careysburg, Urey said her mission remains unchanged: empowering young footballers from her community and beyond. She confirmed that she will appeal the decision and pursue the matter to the fullest extent of the law to defend her integrity and the reputation of opposition team leaders.

“I will take this case to court. This fight is bigger than me, it is about fairness, justice, and the future of Liberian football,” she concluded.
