Buchanan, Grand Bassa County – Two young men, identified as Matthew Whea, 20, and Prince Sumo, 23, are behind bars for the killing of bike rider Reuben Samuels, 20, but instead of taking responsibility, they are now pointing fingers at each other.

According to police investigators, the pair conspired to steal a motorcycle and armed themselves with knives and pepper water before carrying out the act. During interrogation, Whea claimed that it was Sumo who fatally stabbed Samuels. However, Sumo dismissed the allegation, insisting Whea was lying. He further disclosed that the two had consumed alcohol before executing their plan.

The case has sparked outrage in Buchanan, where residents are demanding swift justice for the slain rider. Police emphasized that evidence points to a coordinated plot between the two men, regardless of their attempts to shift blame.

Both Whea and Sumo have been formally charged and appeared before the Buchanan Magisterial Court, where legal proceedings are underway. The tragic death of Samuels has once again raised concerns over rising crimes involving commercial motorcyclists, who remain vulnerable to armed robbers.

I’m out of words… but I love the justice that is prevailing,  Father of murdered motorcyclist in Buchanan

Grand Bassa is still shaken by the killing of 19-year-old rider Reuben Samuels. His father, Thomas Samuels, remembers their last conversation on the morning before tragedy struck.

Reuben’s life was cut short in an act of violence carried out by his own peers. The suspects are now behind bars as police move the case forward.

Even in his grief, Mr. Samuels says he finds comfort in the legal process and believes justice is on the way.

Residents of Grand Bassa are calling for swift justice and stronger measures to protect young people from violence.
